Notes and Prints – Interconnectedness

Continuing from the thoughts shared in the previous post:

By walking ritually, my walk becomes a symbolic stitching of the spiritual and material. Each action echoes the Hermetic truth: what is above is reflected below. And the extension of that ‘as within, so without.’ It is about the interconnectedness. My practice is the exploration of this interconnectedness and what I produce is a means of capturing that experience.

I have been experimenting with using the notes I gather on my walks. This is based on my use of poetry as a thread to stich my work together but also on the inspiring Hamish Fulton book I treated myself to where his field notes become his work (Fulton, H (1998) Walking Through Kent: Stour Valley Art Project).

I have experimented with printing the words collected in my journey on my walks and also using a gold marker to pen them onto black card. I have then continued with the idea of the palimpsest by printing on top of this with the pigments made from earth collected from the landscape.
