Following a Golden String

I give you the end of a golden string;
Only wind it into a ball:
It will lead you in at Heaven’s gate,
Built in Jerusalem’s wall.

‘Jerusalem’ – William Blake

The work and thoughts here are part of my MA in Artist Teacher Practice at Oxford Brookes.

I am currently pursuing a journey of self discovery, following a golden string through lands of liminality to artist self.

I started the MA with, what I consider to be, limited artistic skill and no sense of my own practice. I have a degree in English and Creative Writing, a Photography A Level and am a keen gardener where I use plants like an artist would paint. I work as a primary teacher and am subject lead for art. Despite all of these creative elements to my life, I would like to develop my confidence, skill set and discover who I am as an artist and what media or practice I most enjoy communicating my thoughts and feelings through.

I am therefore on a journey, which I shall document here and on Instagram using #iamonajourneyatp
